                                                                 Childhood Memory
I was going to the Abel Maldonado Community Youth center pool. My dad was taking my little brother and me in his truck. My little brother and I got there in no time. My little brother and I got in the swimming pool. We started swimming with our instructor. We were doing many strokes. I thought it was going to be a good day, but in the end I got hurt.
When we got to the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center pool, it wasn't that crowded. There were kids who had come to swim. There were life guards on duty, as usual. It was around 6:00 p.m. When we started getting into the pool. The water was oddly warm for some reason.
That day I was wearing my swim shorts and I had my sandals. I was swimming many strokes front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, and sidestroke and I was having fun. We would always swim to the other side of the pool. My little brother Isai and I would always talk about how much fun swimming was. I would say "the best part is when we would dive in." I would dive in head first or I would do a cannon ball and sometimes I would even do a front flip even though the life guard would get mad at me and tell me to stop.
I would continue to ignore the life guard which probably explains why I got hurt that day. I would always dive in to the pool with front flips or while spinning. The life guard would watch me and he would get angry and tell me to stop diving in like that. I never had understood why the
life guard would get mad at me when I would dive in doing front flips. I always thought diving in while doing a front flip was fun.
Then the time came to finally get out of the pool. I had told my swimming teacher "Just one more dive". I dove into the pool head first and I hit my head hard. I got out of the pool right away after that accident. I ended up with a big bump on my head.
I learned a lesson that day. It was when they mean don't dive in head first in certain areas of the pool they really mean "don't dive in head first". The lifeguard ended up giving me an ice pack after that accident. I went home after we were done swimming. The bump on my head eventually went away and stopped hurting. I also now and never will dive in head first into the pool.
